Rattle and role
Asked by Gordon Doble
THE LS2 engine in my VZ HSV Senator rattles badly when cold. HSV told me it's not its problem, but Holden arranged for an engineer to listen to the motor when cold. He started it in the workshop and said it was normal, but I don't understand how you can tell if the pistons are rattling or not without driving the car.

22 May 2008IF THE engineer is experienced, he will be used to listening for piston rattle and will hear it without driving the car. If you're not happy with the diagnosis, tell Holden of your concerns and take it to another Holden dealership for its opinion.
