Mitsubishi ASX 2014: Problems with push-button

My 2014 Mitsubishi ASX is a push-button vehicle. When I turn off the car, I was pressing against the pedal a few times and it sort of "locked" after that. However, I then had problem starting the car. I had to press the push button a few times (while my leg is still on the pedal) before I could start my vehicle. Is this issue normal?
