MY 1997 EL Falcon wagon has the annoying habit of cycling the door locks when the doors are locked, or opened from the inside after being locked. This habit is slowly getting worse and is accentuated whenever the car is left in the sun so that the body and doors are warm. It's easy to lock oneself out of the car if, when alighting, the key is left in the ignition. The door locks can cycle and finish with doors locked. The only Ford solution is to replace all locks, which is expensive. Is there another solution?
THIS was quite a common fault with the EF Falcon and was supposed to have been fixed with the EL. It was an adjustment problem and Ford issued a service advice with a solution. When the temperature climbed expansion in the locking mechanism sent the locking system haywire. I'd consult your dealer and have them fix the problem, and ask for it to be done at Ford's expense. An auto electrician will know what to do.
