Lemon aid

AFTER many years without a car I am soon to return to the road and can't wait. However, I'm a bit unsure of what's on the market and, like most punters, concerned about getting ripped-off or stuck with a lemon when I buy my next car. I have a budget of $3000-$4000 and am after a larger dual-fuel vehicle of six or eight cylinders. Of the cars I've looked at so far I'm quite taken with the EA Falcon ``S'' Pack. I'm wondering if you could give me some advice on this vehicle pricing for a dual-fuel model with average km, strengths and weaknesses of this model. Also, can you suggest any other vehicles that would fit my needs and budget?

YOU have quite a large choice of cars, even with your limited budget. You need to understand that any car you buy for that sort of money will be old and likely to have gone around the world several times. Don't limit yourself to a particular make and model, but go for the car that's in the best condition. The EA Falcon is one I would probably avoid. It was the first model in a new generation of Falcons and had a few problems with the engine and transmission. That's not to say that all EAs are lemons, but you should be doubly careful about buying one.
