What should I buy: Golf GTI or Focus ST

Which is the better drive, Volkswagen Golf GTI or Ford Focus ST? My preference is the Focus. It will do about 20,000km a year and will be used as a daily and also for spirited weekend jaunts. My current car is VY Berlina LS1 that is great but is getting a bit old and will most probably be traded on the new one.

The Golf is a better, classier car, but the latest Golf does not have the sharp edge of the previous GTI. So I agree the Focus is the smart choice.
