I WAS wondering if there would be catastrophic damage to the motor if the cam-timing belt on my 1993 Subaru L series broke. I know that some engines only stop if the belt breaks, but others are badly damaged. And I would like to know what category my Subaru is in.
A SUBARU'S advice is that if the belt broke there would be no damage. It's a free-spinning engine, so if the belt lets go, the engine will simply stop.
