I was interested to read about your reader's problem with the dash lights on his Falcon, as I too had the same problem with my BF Falcon. I also tried to claim under the extended warranty and was told it was not covered, but as the car was purchased second hand and I had traveled less than 5000 km I managed to get the dealer to pay for the work. An auto electrician told me that it was a common problem in Fords because the wiring in the head light/ indicator stork was to tight and after a while the wiring breaks. He quoted me $480 for a complete new switch or he could repair it for $200, and it would be better than a new one as the same issue would not happen again. I cannot see how Ford can justify charging $1425 for the repair. Can you?

No, it's hard to justify the cost of repairs at time, and in this case it demonstrates the value of shopping around and finding someone who knows how to do real repairs instead of simply replacing a failed part with a new one. In this case one that might well fail again.
