Ford Falcon 2004: Fuel consumption

What kind of fuel consumption should I be getting from my 2004 Falcon BA MkII XR6? I got just 400 km from the last tank of fuel. Also, would it take E10 without doing any harm? My husband wants to use it, but I say over my dead body.

Ford's claimed fuel consumption for that model was 11.4 L/100 km overall, which means you should get 550 km or so from a tank of fuel. Regular unleaded was Ford's recommended fuel for your car, that's 91- octane. They also gave the tick of approval for E10.
