Holden Astra 2006: Spare key not working

The spare key no longer works after I have had my 2006 Holden Astra repaired after an accident. My Holden service centre say the key has failed and cannot be reprogrammed, and have charged us $300 for a new one. I find it strange it is not working after the repair. What do you think?

I wouldn’t necessarily relate the key failure to the crash repair; I think that’s probably a coincidence. If you still have the key you could take it to a locksmith who handles car keys and have them check it for you to see what has gone wrong with it.
