2008 Jeep Wrangler Sport 2-door review - Long-term owner
By Owner Review · 27 Oct 2025
Basic CD player but good sound and woofer. Not much safety tech, only cruiser control with no adaptive cruise control.Good driving position but a bit small for me with 185cm height, with the seat too close too steering wheel. The cargo area is very spacious with rear seat taken out, since I have the 2-door version.Handling is very good considering it’s heavy and high with a solid chassis.Running costs is high due to high use of gas and services fairly cheap since there are a lot of parts due to high sales of the car. Insurance was low but very high after COVID.Engine and chassis are good but a lot of minor issues after 150,000km. But parts are cheap.

2018 Ford Focus RS Limited Edition review - Long-term owner
By Owner Review · 27 Oct 2025
The multimedia is clear and informative with the Sync 3 system. Emergency services are quick to access with the cars Sync 3 system which also has voice capability. Apple and Android support is also included. The inside cargo is spacious enough for most things everyday-use wise. The boot space can be limited if there is a spare tyre, however without it, there is plenty of room for a hatch of this size. This car drives like a dream. The all-wheel-drive system makes taking turns a breeze. The 2.3-litre four-cylinder engine is enough power to take the vehicle from 0-100km/h in 4.7 seconds. Though it can be stiff sometimes, the joy of driving this car is more than worth it.Fuel is your standard unleaded 98. The insurance for me personally was more expensive than I thought because of it's Ford Performance label and possibly my age. Servicing is standard when looking after the car. However price on new tires can be quite expensive. This car feels reliable in the sense of bringing fun, excitement and thrills to the driver. It functions like a regular car would on the daily, but I use it for weekends and special occasions. This car does not disappoint when it comes to reliability in any way. Just keep the spare tyre in the boot for emergencies, though.

2018 Nissan Navara SL review - Long-term owner
By Owner Review · 13 Oct 2025
It seriously lacks technology in this department (very basic).Excellent, great space. A little tight in the back for adults but otherwise fine.Excellent. Drives well with no issues. No issues here. Vehicle is well serviced and very little problems.I have had one problem since I purchased it and it has run like a dream since then. It was covered under warranty, so no issues.

2023 Tesla Model Y RWD review - Long-term owner
By Owner Review · 13 Oct 2025
USB-C Apple Watch not supported. Music not supported. FSD is not working.Deep middle space is big but too deep. Cargo areas are big and very useful. Middle armrest cover is not easy to use as it is open upwards rather than sliding.Full manual drive is perfect but automatic drive  is still no where near to enjoy it as the system does not even recognise road signs, including speed limit.Insurance is not cheap. I charge at home with solar, so it usually very cheap for fuel. I haven’t paid any servicing so far.Model Y is very reliable. I haven’t had any issues (touch wood). I need to check tyre pressure more often as it needs 43psi which is much higher than ICE cars.

2018 Toyota Corolla Ascent Sport review - Long-term owner
By Owner Review · 13 Oct 2025
Brakes very responsive and several airbags in the event of a collison. I haven't yet mastered the music but would have prefered a CD Stacker to a single CD Player.Drivers side is rather cramped compared to other small cars tested and the rear hatch/boot is rather small. The rear seat is handy for luggage/shopping but not much leg room for passengers.Great pick up and go for a 1.8L, even when reversing into a driveway fairly steep. The visibility though through the rear window I find disappointing, though, but better than some of the newer cars noticed.Insurance: a bit pricey if you have the car under finance, but I did find a reputable insurer that was $40 per month cheaper than my previous one.Servicing was very reasonable (not at a dealer) as I was advised it is a great car, and though purchased used, it had only 34,000km on the clock.Fuel: This is the absolute icing on the cake compared to my old (though purchased new) Japanese-made sporty car. I get an insane amount of mileage from even a half tank of regular unleaded.Though my mechanic strongly advised using Unleaded 95 premium as a safeguard against future costly repairs due to poor fuel.Extremely reliable apart from some unpleasant odours from the exhaust, which indicated it was overdue for a service. Apart from that absolutely nothing whatsover amazingly !I would highly recommend having it serviced every six months for regular driving and less frequently if few kilometres are driven!

2024 Ineos Grenadier Quartermaster Fieldmaster review - Long-term owner
By Owner Review · 13 Oct 2025
Whilst all your vehicle controls are old school and manual (a good thing), the actual infotainment is seamless with Android Auto and Apple Car Play giving you as good as an experience as any car.Having the Fieldmaster edition, it comes with upgraded sound system including sub-woofer under the rear seat, with easy to change audio settings the sound is great be it listening to a podcast or music. As someone who uses it as my daily driver for work, dropping kids etc., coupled with soft-roading weekends, practicality is perfect.Of course being tall and long can limit parking options, but that is a compromise worth having for all the other elements. If you were living in the city, the wagon being slighly shorter in length may be more practical. For me you come for the look and practical specs and stay for the driving experience. Planted, great acceleration and braking, with the high ride position and big open windows aiding visibility, you are in control. I just did Victoria to Sydney and return (16 hours drive time over 2 days) with the Recaro seats and never felt uncomfortable or needing to get out and stretch my legs. You hear of two common concerns, the first being the lack of return to centre. This takes all of one minute to get used to and be automatic in your driving and a tendency to stray on the highway, I have not experienced that at all.But you do have to drive the vehicle and for me that is a good thing.I have the diesel variant and for regular mixed use driving am averaging 12-13L/100km. For a well-powered brick on wheels that isn't to bad.Towing a full-size caravan that has jumped up to around 17L/100km, which is only about one more than my previous ute with a smaller engine. It is a known bug that the fuel range display is a bit out. I have found the consumption data, however, to be spot on and a quick mental calculation gives you confidence of the range. At 10,000km in, I would say it is too early to fairly judge reliability, but so far so good. The dealership I purchased from has been vary good with support so far for any questions I have had.

2021 Tesla Model 3 Long Range review - Long-term owner
By Owner Review · 11 Aug 2025
It's a tablet on wheels, one can get most things done on the touch screen just like playing with an iPad. Sometimes while I was driving I'd tap the ABC News or ABC Classic radio stations, which potentially utilised 2% of all the infotainment features. I also linked my YouTube music and Audible accounts to the car, so there is more stuff to listen to.There are four cameras on each side of the car and security footage can be accessed via the Tesla app on mobile phone. Luckily I didn't get into any accident, so I don't know how good the airbags are.A minimalist would appreciate the interior design of a Model 3. I'm not, but I think it's OK since I don't fancy decorations a lot. The rear trunk is only mediocre and this is not a good car to be at IKEA or Bunnings. There's frunk which most cars don't have, which can store suitcase-sized stuff. The Long Range variant of Model 3 has a great acceleration - after four years it's still amongst the fastest. Turning and merging are quite smooth thanks to its low gravity center.I'm an early adopter of solar power at home so it's a no-brainer to charge an EV with free fuel - solar energy. With a 7kW wall charger installed, it can charge roughly 50km per hour in the garage so two hours of charge is usually enough for daily routines. For servicing it's the best as it doesn't need one. I only need to go to a shop to replace tyres every 50,000km or so.Insurance is getting more expensive, though. For the past few years there's been no issue requiring roadside assistance, so I'd say it's a reliable car. Also it gets over-the-air software updates once in a while.

2016 Hyundai Sonata Active review - Long-term owner
By Owner Review · 04 Jul 2025
Very good. I have owned lots of Ford Falcons, but I would rate my Sonata ahead of most of the Fords I owned. In fact, I rate this Sonata as one of the best cars I have owned. It has a 2.4 litre and in Sport mode it really flys. Very quick. It surprised me. Fuel average depends on how you drive and what mode. Servicing I find expensive at $400, but it is only once a year. Insurance is about average. Overall, this car is great. Very reliable in every way. Only one issue is the passenger window has to be controlled on the driver's side of the car. Other than that, it is superb and always garaged.

2024 Toyota Corolla Hybrid hatchback review - Long-term owner
By Owner Review · 04 Jul 2025
Multimedia is very confusing, with so many actions required to achieve specific outcomes. The safety technology is very impressive, however, proximity sensors back and front are not fitted as standard. Generally, the interior is very dark/black, making it very difficult to see things clearly inside the car. Seating, both front and rear, while very comfortable, can be difficult to get into and out of. The rear cargo area is very cramped and space is quite limited. Again, this is most disappointing. The driving experience is outstanding, very smooth, quiet and responsiveness is most satisfactory. The transition from electric to ICE motors and back is absolutely seamless, imperceptible. Could not ask for any better. The vehicle was a brand-new purchase, so as yet, fixed-price servicing has not been undertaken but expected to be satisfactory. As the batteriess are charged by the regenerative braking system, no electric charging is available or necessary. Overall, petrol economy is extraordinary, very economical. When insurance was purchased on day one, the cost seemed more than reasonable given the complexity of the drivetrain system. As this car is brand new, it is very difficult to give any real assessment as to reliability, however, as it is a Toyota, reliability is generally a given, and was chosen partly because Toyotas are generally unbreakable. Toyota have been building hybrid vehicles for almost 25 years, and having personally driven a Toyota hybrid in 2006, it was very impressive back then, so I have no issues in choosing this car.

2013 BMW X3 xDrive20d review - Long-term owner
By Owner Review · 04 Jul 2025
It is little rough in terms of the comfort, but good on fuel. The brand is well known and a prestigious manufacturer. Interior is little hard, but the fabrics get damaged quite easily. Cargo area is small. I enjoy the drivability of the car. It is easy to handle and has decent power. Too shaky, though, could be the size of the wheels. Very good on fuel. Day-to-day running costs are quite affordable, but services can be expensive and parts are little expensive, too. It’s a reliable car if you keep it updated. Regular services and mechanical parts should replace at the first warning.
