New Land Rovers to be revealed
By Australian International Motor Show · 27 Aug 2012
Land Rover will be taking the covers off its all-new Range Rover at the 2012 Australian International Motor Show – for just the second time in the world. Fresh from its world unveiling at the Paris Motor Show in September, the all-new Range Rover will be a highlight of the Australian International Motor Show as it shows off a new modern interpretation of the classic Range Rover design cues. The all-new SUV has been engineered from the ground up and is the most capable and refined Range Rover ever, capturing the design of the original model, but with a bold evolution. Land Rover says the all-new Range Rover sits at the pinnacle of SUV refinement, with a spacious and luxurious interior, enhanced all-terrain performance and a truly composed driving experience. The all-new Range Rover will be the world’s first luxury SUV with a lightweight all-aluminium monocoque body coupled with all-new aluminium front and rear chassis’, resulting in a weight saving of up to 420 kilograms. This in turn results in significant enhancements in performance and agility, along with a transformation in fuel economy and CO2 emissions. “Land Rover really did change the global automotive landscape when it launched the world’s first luxury SUV, the classic Range Rover over 40 years ago,” said Russ Tyrie, Show Director. “Evolutions of this model over the years saw exciting increases in refinement, performance and comfort – and the fourth generation Range Rover certainly takes luxury SUVs to the next level. “We are very excited that it will be revealed at the Australian International Motor Show, which also marks the first time it is seen in the Southern Hemisphere.” Land Rover will also conduct the Australian reveal of the 2013 Freelander 2, which has had a premium overhaul to increase driver comfort, convenience and enjoyment. Featuring new exterior design features, upgraded equipment levels and a new lightweight petrol engine, the five-star Euro NCAP safety-rated 2013 Freelander 2 is sure to impress all who see it. The 2012 Australian International Motor Show will be held at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour from October 19-28, 2012. For further information about the Show and to purchase early bird tickets, visit the AIMS website, which is also compatible with all android and Apple mobile devices. www.motorshow.com.au

Fastest FPV in history secured for Motor Show
By Australian International Motor Show · 15 Aug 2012
Touted as the most advanced GT ever at its launch this week, the Ford Falcon GT RSPEC Limited Edition Series (code-named Panther) will make an appearance at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre in October. Its distinctive looks, inspired by the legendary 1969 and modern-day Boss Mustang, are expected to impress with the GT RSPEC sporting a C-stripe decal and unique accent package. “Over the years, Ford Performance Vehicles continually wows visitors to the Motor Show with its impressively engineered vehicles, including the stealth all-black GT Concept unveiled at last year’s show,” said Russ Tyrie, Show Director. “We are confident it will do so again this year in Sydney, with the GT RSPEC already receiving rave reviews and impressing industry experts. “In fact as we understand it, the feedback received from fans and show-goers on the GT Black Concept was all considered in the development and in the planning of the GT RSPEC.” FPV’s newest model was inspired by a desire to maximise the amazing performance of its legendary 335kW 5.0Lt supercharged V8 engine by enhancing the chassis’ capabilities, to create the ultimate driving package for enthusiasts. The GT RSPEC also features a significantly recalibrated suspension package, new wider 9inch rear wheels with 275/35 R19 Dunlop Sports Maxx tyres and Launch Control. The addition of Launch Control on both the manual and automatic transmissions provides drivers with a more consistent performance when accelerating from rest, reducing the amount of wheel slip by tailoring torque delivery to ensure launch performance is optimised. The 2012 Australian International Motor Show will be held at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour from October 19-28, 2012. Australian prototype to showcase at 2012 Motor Show
By Australian International Motor Show · 09 Aug 2012
There’s plenty of tight lips surrounding the Woods & Woods concept vehicle. Thankfully it’s not long until the unveiling at AIMS 2012. Taking inspiration from the smooth lines of the automobiles found in the early-to-mid 1930’s, this car is anticipated to excite both motoring enthusiasts and the general public. Father-and-son, David and Jayson Woods have been building cars together for over 25 years and are excited about introducing their prototype to the AIMS 2012 audience. “We’ve always wanted to build our own vehicle based upon early European and American designs, but in a way that no-one else has done before,” said Jayson Woods. “Whilst it’s taken only 12 months to build, I actually first thought this car up when I was at school, so it’s really been decades in the making." “We created this car from scratch and to see the finished product in front of us still takes our breath away.  Our ultimate goal is to create a limited run of vehicles based upon this prototype that are able to be driven on the roads.” Throughout the years, Motor Shows in Australia have supported numerous niche automotive designers across the country, and the 2012 Australian International Motor Show is continuing this tradition. “We are proud to be exhibiting this vehicle from Woods and Woods and providing them with a platform to showcase their skills,” said Russ Tyrie, Show Director. “David and Jayson are an inspiration and an example of when people put their minds to something, how it can be achieved.  They have designed every single aspect and part for this car and what really sets it apart is that it is like nothing else – its timeless shape will draw some comparisons, but that is where the similarities end. Quite simply, any Australians interested in automotive design, engineering or manufacturing need to see this car.” Visitors to the 2012 Motor Show will also be amongst the first in the world to see new models from both local and international manufacturers, with a record number of unveilings scheduled. The 2012 Australian International Motor Show will be held at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour from October 19-28, 2012. By Australian International Motor Show · 07 Aug 2012
The confirmation of the car will see it as one of three supercars on the Lamborghini stand at the Show ahead of its on-sale date later this year. This will give the Australian public their first official look at this all-new entry-level supercar. The Gallardo LP550-2 Spyder is the only convertible rear-wheel-drive variant in the Italian supercar manufacturer’s line-up and has been inspired by Valentino Balboni, who was Lamborghini’s test driver for over 40 years. Making its second official appearance in Australia will be the Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4, which was also at the 2011 Australian International Motor Show. Since its introduction last year, the Aventador, with its jet-fighter inspired styling and lightweight 60-degree V12 engine capable of reaching 0-100km/hour in just 2.9 seconds, has achieved success globally. “Lamborghini is always a crowd favourite at the Australian International Motor Show and we are excited they will be displaying their newest and most popular models in Sydney, as well as debuting an all-new stand design,” said Russ Tyrie, Show Director. “At this stage, we can confirm that a third vehicle will feature on the Lamborghini stand; whilst we cannot give exact details just yet, it will be a show-stopping concept never before seen in Australia.” The 2012 Australian International Motor Show will be held at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour from October 19-28, 2012. Rosco McGlashan confirmed for 2012 AIMS
By Australian International Motor Show · 04 Jul 2012
Rosco McGlashin is the current Australian Land Speed Record Holder with a screaming 500 mph (804 km/h) achievement under his belt. The Oz speed-king is upping the ante by attempting to become the fastest man in the world when he tackles the World Land Speed Record behind the wheel of the Aussie Invader 5R - the rocket-powered car that has been 10 years in development. Joining Rosco on stand at the Motor Show will be three members from Team Aussie Invader along with a 16 metre, life-size replica of the Aussie Invader 5R. Visitors to the Motor Show will be treated to an up-close and personal look at a model of the vehicle Rosco will pilot in his record attempt. "We are thrilled to have Rosco McGlashan as a special guest at this year's Australian International Motor Show in Sydney," said Event Director, Russ Tyrie. "Rosco is a fantastic ambassador for the Australian automotive industry, with his lifelong passion for anything with wheels and absolute dedication to local engineering, manufacturing and design. "Rosco's story and project is both unique and inspiring and we know visitors will enjoy speaking with him and the Aussie Invader team to find out more about their next record attempt and seeing a replica of the soon-to-be most powerful car in the world, the Aussie Invader 5R." Powered by a liquid oxygen and bio-kerosene rocket engine producing around 200,000 horsepower, the Aussie Invader 5R is capable of accelerating from 0-1,000 miles per hour (1,609 km/h) in just 20 seconds - faster than a bullet. At this speed, Rosco and the rocket-powered Aussie Invader 5R will break the sound barrier one-and-a-half times over and smash the existing World Land Speed Record of 763 mph (1,223 km/h) set by British rival, Andy Green in 1997. The Aussie Invader 5R world record attempt is set for 2013/14, about the same time Andy Green and the British team will be ready with their new car Bloodhound SSC setting the scene for the "Ashes of Land Speed." "We're rapt to be back at the motor show this year, and really looking forward to giving fans the opportunity to see what our latest car, Aussie Invader 5R, will look like when finished,” Rosco said. "We've been planning and developing Aussie Invader 5R for ten years, and now we're at the business end of bringing it all together.” "Our aim is to be testing the car next year, and working our way up to an attempt at the world record and 1000 mph after that. At 1000 mph we will be travelling the same speed the earth spins at the equator,"Rosco added. Visitors to the Motor Show will also be presented with spectacular reveals from local and international manufacturers, with a record number of new models to be unveiled.
