New 'Walky' super to debut

Each of the 23 Supercar Mk2s produced will receive a specially-created WP build number and certificate of authenticity.

Walkinshaw Performance will celebrate a company milestone at next month’s Australian International Motor Show (AIMS) in Sydney by unveiling a new vehicle with a unique list of limited-edition enhancements.

The new model, dubbed Walkinshaw Performance Supercar Mk2, will be limited to a production run of just 23 units.

The small production run celebrates the 23rd anniversary of the unveiling of the original Walkinshaw at the 1987 Sydney International Motor Show – the precursor to AIMS.

Walkinshaw Performance (WP) national sales and marketing manager, Tony Harris, said the opportunity to be a part of the new-look AIMS was the catalyst behind producing a limited-edition package.

"Normally limited editions are simply a special badge or sticker," Mr Harris said. "But we wanted to really celebrate our heritage and perhaps even the ‘birth’ of the modern day ‘Walky’ by bringing together a package of brand new enhancements all backed by the WP warranty."

Each Supercar Mk2 will receive a specially-created WP build number and certificate of authenticity.

Tony Harris believes the new model brings together the very best of the WP product range.

"Our limited-edition pack will showcase a range of new and unique Walkinshaw Performance enhancements, featuring something very special under the bonnet, a new suspension upgrade, audio upgrade, brake and wheel package, and much more," Mr Harris said.

"More will be revealed on the opening day of the Australian International Motor Show, but we really think this car, and the products it will showcase, will make a big impact."

The Australian International Motor Show will be held at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre in Darling Harbour. The show opens at 5pm on Friday, 15 October and runs until 6pm on Sunday, 24 October.
