One reason I bought a Honda HR-V VTi-S was the safety gear, including a low-speed braking setup which is run by a laser and camera behind the windscreen glass. When I needed to replace a broken windscreen I was told the system would need to be recalibrated to suit the new screen, and that this could only be done by a Honda dealer and takes up to six hours. A specialist glass company had never heard of this process, but then said it was only a case of resetting the computer. After many calls to Honda in Melbourne it was agreed that the car would have to be recalibrated to suit the replacement windscreen. The total bill was $1420 including $400 from a dealer for recalibration. Your readers need to be aware of the cost of this new technology, which the sales people don’t mention, and also the training needed for service department people.
