Could an electrical fault with my GPS and bluetooth affect the reversing camera?
By David Morley · 22 Mar 2024

My diesel 2013 Hyundai i30 has been so reliable and has given me no problems over 205,000km. It is so economical to run and a pleasure to drive. But now suddenly the GPS has stopped working along with the Bluetooth phone. It is too expensive to replace, so I'll do without. The radio still works and the reverse screen.

My question is that I am concerned the electrical fault may impact the reverse screen in future, and maybe the cruise-control. There isn't any problem with them at the moment, but I am not sure how everything works. I'd hate to suddenly lose the reverse camera.

Issues with lane-keeping assistance in a 2023 Nissan X-Trail
By David Morley · 08 Mar 2024

My 2023 Nissan X-Trail has done this twice; it applied the brakes only on the passenger side of the car at 70km/h whilst I was in the middle of the outside lane of a three-lane (in each direction road). It released them after about five seconds but I had to fight the car to stop it changing lanes and colliding with the cars in the middle lane. An alarm did sound but it went away quite quickly so couldn't see what it was; I had other things to keep me occupied at the time.

What is causing this?
