The Suzuki Fronx is a compact SUV first revealed in early 2023, developed primarily for emerging markets by Maruti Suzuki in India. Positioned below the Vitara, it blends the style of a coupe-SUV with the footprint of a light crossover, using the same Heartect platform as the Baleno hatch. Designed to appeal to young, urban buyers, the Fronx marked Suzuki’s attempt to expand its SUV portfolio in fast-growing segments.
Internationally, the Fronx is sold in various markets including Africa, Latin America and select Asian regions, often alongside or instead of the similarly sized Ignis and S-Cross. It combines modern tech with a fuel-efficient drivetrain, initially offered with 1.0-litre turbo-petrol and 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engines, as well as 1.5-litre mild hybrid.
The line-up currently starts at $28,990 for the Fronx Hybrid Glx and ranges through to $28,990 for the range-topping Fronx Hybrid Glx.

Seven colours are available on the Suzuki Fronx, with six of them cost-options.
Arctic Pearl White is the standard no-cost colour, while Grandeur Grey Pearl Metallic, Celestial Blue Pearl Metallic and Bluish Black Pearl all cost $745 extra.
Three two-tone options are also available for $1345 each, with Bluish Black Pearl as the roof and pillar colour: Lucent Orange Pearl Metallic, Opulent Red Pearl Metallic and Splendid Silver Pearl Metallic.
The Suzuki Fronx has a 9.0-inch multimedia touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay a head-up display and small 4.2-inch driver display between physical dash dials.
There's wireless phone charging, heated synthetic leather seats and a leather steering wheel.
Exterior lighting is LED front and rear, with auto headlights and manual levelling.
The Fronx has a familiar interior layout, with not much in the way of adventurous design. There are physical buttons for some key controls like climate and the gear selector is a traditional style.
There are also physical speedometer and tachometer dials as well as manually adjustable seats.
The Fronx's front passenger space is decent, while elbow rests and seating positions allow for a relaxed ride.
The back seat has less space, though isn't so cramped that an adult at average height couldn't sit comfortably for a short while.
The Suzuki Fronx's engine is a 1.5-litre four cylinder unit with mild-hybrid, driving the front wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission. Its outputs are 76kW and 137Nm.

Luggage capacity in the boot of the Suzuki Fronx is 304 litres, or 605 litres with the rear 60/40 split seats folded.
Suzuki doesn't have an official acceleration claim for the Fronx, but the relatively slow light SUV likely takes a little more than 10 seconds to hit 100km/h based on a short drive at its Australian launch.
Its top speed is likely not more than 180km/h.
The Suzuki Fronx has a fuel consumption claim of 4.9L/100km under somewhat lenient NEDC testing.
With a 37-litre fuel tank, the Fronx should realistically be able to manage more than 600km on a full tank, though theoretically the maximum range on paper is 755km.
