The Ineos Grenadier wagon arrived a few years ago to much fanfare. Now the Ineos Grenadier Quartermaster, the dual-cab ute version of the Grenadier wagon, is here to take on the likes of the Toyota LandCruiser 70 Series. The purpose-built Quartermaster is a body-on-frame / ladder-frame 4WD with live axles, a dual-range transfer case, and front, centre and rear diff locks.

It's been in the works for a long time but the Ineos Grenadier has finally arrived in Australia; this traditional, tough-as-old-boots 4x4 wagon ready to show its more hi-fi competitors how to get the job done off-road. Not surprisingly, there are some compromises on-road but join contributing journalist, Dave Morley for a first drive to see if the overall package adds up for you.

Can Ineos pull off a bold automotive punt – filling a space they believe exists between the Jeep Wrangler and the Mercedes G-Class? To find out, we visited the company’s off-road testing circuit in Hambach, France, to drive a prototype of the Grenadier, ahead of the car’s Australian launch in the last quarter of 2022.
