This is why Nico Rosberg retired at 31

Can you think of a better lifestyle than that of a retired F1 champion?

I can’t, given their apparent ability to live the rest of their lives comfortably on a cocktail of investments, brand ambassador programs and celebrity appearances at races and events like Goodwood.

Most (aside from Alain Prost) are so addicted to the motorsport bug that they stick around long after they reach their peak, but Nico Rosberg didn’t. He famously quit the sport just weeks after securing his first world championship with Mercedes in 2016.

He’s no stranger to life after F1 though, being the son of fellow champion Keke Rosberg.

Anyway, Nico is spending some of his time these days a vlogger on his YouTube channel, and his most recent upload underlines my theory that he’s living the dream.

Wouldn’t you want to spend your weekdays cutting happy laps of Monaco in your Mercedes 300SL?

Another window into his Monaco lifestyle is that Eddie Jordan introduces the vid while seemingly heading out for a ride on his bicycle.

If classic exotics aren’t your dream scenario, he did the same thing last week with Mika Hakkinen in his McLaren P1.

See what I mean?

What would you buy to get around Monaco if you were Nico Rosberg? Tell us in the comments.

Back when all cars burned fuel and couldn't drive themselves, Mal was curing boredom by scanning every car his parents' VB Commodore drove past. His childhood appreciation for the car world exploded during a three-year stint in the US, and serious questions were asked when he spent a good chunk of his uni career perfecting lap times at Wakefield Park. Mal got his big break scooping the VE II Commodore, before a stint at Overlander magazine and kicking off his online career with The Motor Report in its heyday. These days he's exactly the same height as Michael Schumacher and uses his powers for good at the helm of CarsGuide's editorial team. Mal proudly shuns brand allegiance and counts three young kids, an EH Holden, NA MX-5, KE20 Corolla, W116 Mercedes-Benz and the world's most versatile Toyota Echo among his personal stable. He also craves a Subaru Vortex, so get in touch if you know where to find one.
