E-Type with the heart of a twin-turbo V10 snake

The Jaguar E-Type has always been regarded as one of the most elegant cars ever made, due to its beautiful styling and that sweet sounding in-line six engine.

But, an American named David Nonis has added some brashness to his ’68 model in the form of a 8.4-litre V10 from a Dodge Viper.

The last-gen Viper produced 477kW, however, David has added two turbos to the V10, and while there’s no word on power yet, it’s expected to make between 895-1119kW.

Connected to a six-speed manual, power is sent to the rear wheels with fat slick tyres left to transfer the grunt to the road.

While the body is still pure E-Type, underneath the skin is a different story with a custom chassis, the front suspension from a Mustang II (seriously?), custom rear suspension, and a nine-inch diff.

This reminds us of the electric E-Type revealed at last year's Jaguar Land Rover Tech Fest, which is the complete opposite of this fuel guzzling monster.

Next on David's to-do-list is to finish the body work and add upholstery to the interior.

Following a passion shared by his father and grandfather, Mitchell’s love of cars really kicked off with his Godfather’s purchase of a new Mazda RX-8. Exposure to that car changed his world forever, leading to an RX-7 obsession. To feed his automotive addiction, Mitchell decided to become a motoring journalist and made his mark at several high-profile motoring publications before landing at CarsGuide. While he is a rotary loyalist, Mitchell also has a massive love for Aussie muscle cars, and dreams of one day getting behind the wheel of a Charger R/T E49 (if anyone will let him). His other passions include Queensland, and spending Saturdays with the boys.
