If you want the most Nissan Qashqai money can buy, look no further than the flagship Ti.At $47,390 before on-road costs, the Qashqai would tip over the $50,000 mark when you factor in on-roads. And that is a whopping $8300 more than the old Ti!But, you do get high-end features like a 10.8-inch head-up display, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, quilted leather accented seats with a massage function at the front, driver seat memory function, 10-speaker Bose audio system, panoramic sunroof, hands-free power tailgate, auto parking and the Divide N Hide boot storage system.Until the 'ePower' hybrid arrives at some point in 2023, the Qashqai range uses a new 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine - found in some Renault models - pumping out a decent 110kW/250Nm, matching the Skoda Kamiq. It’s front-wheel drive and uses a continuously variable transmission (CVT).There’s a lot more safety gear too, including auto emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian, cyclist and junction detection, rear AEB with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise, rear cross-traffic alert, a front centre airbag, lane departure warning, and a blind spot warning.

When you think of Nissan, the first model that pops into your head might be the might GT-R, tech-focused Leaf EV or even the hardy Navara workhorse, but it's the Qashqai small SUV that is arguably the brand's most important nameplate. The outgoing Qashqai has been on sale since 2014, so the new-gen version is a long time coming. But is it any good?

The ST is the entry-grade into the Qashqai line-up and the most affordable, starting with a list price of $27,990 for the manual gearbox, while the auto (CVT) is $29,990. Along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which were added in the 2020 update, standard features on the ST include a 7.0-inch screen with reversing camera, front and rear parking sensors, six-speaker stereo, cruise control, cloth seats, push-button start, LED running lights, halogen headlights and 17-inch alloy wheels. All Qashqais have the same engine – it’s a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol which makes a reasonable 106kW of power and 200Nm of torque. a manual gearbox is only available on the ST, but a CVT auto is also available and sends drive to the front wheels. The Qashqai scored the maximum five-star ANCAP rating when it was tested in 2017.Note: CarsGuide attended this event as a guest of the manufacturer, with travel and meals provided.

This week I cleaned out the garage and collected a bunch of baby stuff to give to my younger cousins who are having babies. Travel cots, car seats and a cute rocking sheep all got stacked in the car while I delivered them around Sydney. I was test driving the new Nissan Qashqai Ti model - it's the top of the range petrol and is a small SUV, in competition with the likes of the Mazda CX-3 and Honda H-RV, even though it's bigger than those cars.So how does the Qashqai perform compared to its counterparts, and did it fit all the baby stuff I needed to transport? Let's find out.

The Nissan Qashqai looks great, is nifty while driving around the city, and is actually one of the more roomy in its class. I lived with it for a week and took it everywhere. Here's how it fared.
