New Porsche Macan Turbo to arrive in October
By Tung Nguyen · 29 Aug 2019
Porsche’s facelifted Macan Turbo will arrive in Australian showrooms from October equipped with a more potent V6 engine, but also a $8900 jump in price to $142,000 before on-road costs.Switching its powertrain from a 3.6-litre twin-turbo petrol V6 to a 2.9-litre twin-turbo six, the new Macan Turbo outputs 324kW of power – a 29kW increase – while torque is steady at 550Nm.With drive sent to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, the zero-to-100km/h sprint time drops to 4.3 seconds, 0.3s faster than before, while top speed is also 4km/h higher at 270km/h.Fuel economy and carbon dioxide emissions are pegged at 10.0 litres per 100km and 229 grams per kilometre respectively, a jump over the previous Macan Turbo’s 9.2L/100km and 216g/km figures. To shed speed, the Macan Turbo is fitted with ‘Porsche Surface Coated Brakes’ as standard, which use a tungsten carbide coating on the discs for “faster response, less wear and up to 90 per cent less brake dust compared with conventional cast iron brakes”, according to the brand.Adaptive air suspension and 21-inch wheels are also fitted as standard on Australian-spec models, while torque vectoring and ceramic brakes are available as options.Inside the new Macan Turbo is fitted with leather upholstery, front sport seats with electric adjustment and heating, Alcantara roof lining, 14-speaker Bose sound system, surround-view monitor, and brushed aluminium trim. The facelifted Macan Turbo also gains a larger 10.9-inch multimedia touchscreen with real-time traffic satellite navigation, voice control, Wi-Fi hot-spotting, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.A heated steering wheel is available as an option, as are a heated windscreen, in-cabin air ioniser and adaptive cruise control.
