Crewman warning lights

Answered by CarsGuide 26 Jun 2015

If it has come on and stayed on it means you should get it checked, it could be a number of things that caused it, and you need to have it checked by a mechanic to determine the exact cause. If there isn't any obvious change in the way the car drives there's probably not much to be concerned about, but it the car isn't running the way it was, and the light is still on get it checked.

Crewman timing chain stretching

Answered by CarsGuide 19 Jun 2015

I'm not sure of the date, but I understand the 7.7mm pitch chain was fitted to engines after number HO53340001. That should tell you if your engine was affected.

Holden Commodore 2006: LPG problem

Answered by CarsGuide 10 Jan 2014

It's hard to suggest what might be wrong without seeing the car, so I suggest the best thing is to have an LPG specialist look at it. Give the people at Impco a call on 03 8788 1000 and ask them to check the car for you.

Holden Crewman water problem

Answered by CarsGuide 6 Sep 2013

That's the problem when trying to locate the cause of leaks etc. They're not usually the obvious things you think of, like a poorly fitting or damaged seal etc. but you have to check those things first before you dig deeper and spend a lot of money in the process.

Have the diff mounts checked; they're likely to be the cause.

Crewman Cross8 clutch

Answered by CarsGuide 17 Jun 2010

I would approach Holden with a claim for part compensation, the only to do it is through your dealer in the first instance, and then direct to Holden of the dealer rejects you. If you do choose to make a claim against Holden have all your documentation available to give to them, and that includes the car’s service history. You also need to be able to support your claim that you haven’t abused the transmission. If they did agree to your claim, and I doubt they would, they would most likely supply the parts to rebuild it, and leave you to pick up the tab for the labour.

VE Commodore ignition coil failures

Answered by CarsGuide 27 May 2010

Ignition coil failures have been an often reported failure on Commodores going back a number of models; it's not necessarily something new. I couldn't say the others will fail any time soon, after all the two failed coils did 184,000 km before giving up.

Ask Smithy Xtra Holden Crewman with clunking diff

Answered by CarsGuide 12 May 2010

Sorry to tell you but the diff problem is a common one in the Crewman, has been since it was new. Other than changing the diff, there’s not much you can do about it, except try changing the oil.
