After five years on the local market, Toyota has axed the Granvia people mover from its Australian line-up.
Toyota confirmed it had been forced to reassess the viability of the Granvia locally after recording just 117 sales in Australia last year, the least out of any Toyota model.
New Australian Design Rules (ADRs) also meant it was up for a suite of technical modifications in order to be sold on the Australian market this year, and thus, the Granvia is no more.
The change in rules affected other makes, notably Mitsubishi, LDV and Suzuki.
The HiAce-based people mover arrived in 2019 as a more premium successor to the iconic Toyota Tarago, which had featured on the Australian market since 1983.
Toyota discontinued the Tarago after Australians fell out of love with it in favour of cheaper rivals and SUVs. Unfortunately, the Granvia has met the same fate.

People movers accounted for just one per cent of the Australian new-car market in 2025, with 85.3 per cent of the segment’s sales owned by the Kia Carnival.
Chinese electric car brands are, however, seeking to breathe a bit of life back into the segment.
Last year, Chinese newcomer Zeekr launched the 009 luxury people mover in Australia, while the LDV Mifa sold a respectable 474 units last year.
Deliveries of the 009 are expected to commence shortly, so it remains to be seen whether it is a match for the Carnival.
