Isuzu has extended its special 'Tour Mate' packaging to its popular seven-seat MU-X SUV.
Available from dealerships nationwide from October 1, Isuzu says the treatment adds $9200 worth of additional genuine accessories for a price of $73,990, representing what the brand says is a minimum saving of $9377.
That makes it $2600 cheaper than the more off-road focused Ford Everest Tremor, production of which is set to commence in November with a starting price of $76,590, before on-road costs.
Built on the top-spec MU-X LS-T 4x4 platform, which is priced at $67,990, before on-road costs, the LS-T’s capable 3.0-litre turbo-diesel engine and six-speed automatic transmission pairing remains unchanged for the Tour Mate.
It delivers 140kW/450Nm, 3500kg braked towing capacity and dual-range 4x4, while the Tour Mate maintains headline features from the LS-T like leather-accented upholstery and 20-inch alloy wheels.
Exclusive to the MU-X Tour Mate is a satin black bull bar with integrated parking sensors and fog lights, a tow bar kit with a 50mm ball, a 12-pin wiring harness, an electronic brake controller, extendable heated and power-fold compact towing mirrors and unique Tour Mate badging.
Other notable touring-focused features coming standard on the LS-T platform include a rear diff lock and rough terrain mode, an 800mm wading depth and 235mm ground clearance, a 2WD-high, 4WD-high, and 4WD-low dual-range transfer case and Bridgestone Dueler 265/50R20 highway tyres.
A 9.0-inch multimedia screen comes equipped with digital radio, satellite-navigation, Android Auto, wireless Apple CarPlay and an eight-speaker audio system. There’s also an eight-way electronically adjustable driver’s seat, dropping to four-way on the front passenger side.
Safety features come in the form of Isuzu's 'Intelligent Driver Assistance System', which includes features like forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and trailer sway control.
The MU-X is one of Australia’s best performing SUVs, selling 12,911 units to August 2024, an increase of 31.5 per cent on last year’s sales figures.
It currently boasts a 15.8 per cent share of the large SUV segment priced under $80K, edging out rivals such as the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and Toyota Kluger but trailing behind the segment-leading Ford Everest which has sold 15,711 vehicles.
