Skoda Octavia RS 2019 pricing and spec confirmed

'Virtual Cockpit' software will be available on the Octavia RS for the first time, with one engine tune across the range.

Skoda Australia has confirmed pricing for its 2019 model year go-fast Octavia RS sedan and wagon variants.

There are now four variants in the Octavia RS family starting from $39,990 for the 2.0 TSI sedan and reaching to $46,990 for the RS245 wagon.

The entry-level RS 2.0 TSI now has the previous RS245’s EA888 engine producing 180kW/370Nm. The base 169 TSI (with 169kW and 350Nm) is no more. Skoda's local arm claims this is due to customers gravitating toward the more potent RS245.

All Octavia RS variants drive the front wheels via a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The RS is also the first Octavia to receive an optional ‘virtual cockpit’ digital dashboard software suite similar to Volkswagen and Audi products (at a $700 premium on either trim level).

The Octavia RS gets a slew of new tech features as well as the same 180kW engine across the range.

The base RS 2.0 TSI now has an electronically controlled limited-slip differential, 18-inch alloy wheels, adaptive cruise control, LED headlights, DRLs and interior lighting, 8.0-inch multimedia touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, eight-speaker stereo, dual-zone climate control, rain-sensing wipers, a reversing camera and rear parking sensors.

Stepping up to the RS245 adds Adaptive Chassis Control with adjustable dampers, advanced keyless entry, 9.2-inch touchscreen, premium 10-speaker sound system, a more sophisticated anti-theft alarm suite, Qi wireless phone charging and front parking sensors, as well as a slew of extra aesthetic touches.

On the safety front, all Octavia RS variants get auto emergency braking (AEB), adaptive cruise control and the aforementioned park assist features, but the RS245 scores two more airbags than the base 2.0 TSI for a total of nine.

A Luxury Pack can be added to either variant at a cost of $2800 which adds synthetic suede/leather interior trim, electrically adjustable driver’s seat with memory function, Lane Keep Assist (LKAS), Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM), heated front seats and auto-folding door mirrors that are also heated.

A three- or five-year service package can be added for $860 or $1700 respectively.
