... as entrants tried to best each other with witty words.
Together with Pirelli, Carsguide has got six calendars to give away (of the mere 200 that come into the country as gifts for a secret list of VIPs).
Only 10,000 of the famous calendars are printed every year for the entire globe, and none are for sale. Each of the six calendars in our competition will be won by one reader in one of six state groupings - NSW/ACT, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia/NT, Western Australia and Tasmania.
And if they tell us about their tyre purchases, all entrants can also be in the running to win a set of Pirelli Cinturato tyres, designed to reduce fuel consumption but maintain performance _ two key abilities that have seen Pirelli become the official tyre of Formula One.
So it's no surprise that entrants from coast to coast turned to humour and rhyme to try and shine in their attempts to win the world's most exclusive calendar.
"Diamonds may be a girl's best friend but women prefer tyre-men," reckoned Elizabeth Karpiel of New South Wales.
"There once was a calendar for guys, that showed lots of (ahem) bums and thighs. They then added men, for all the women, and now there are just lots of sighs," wrote cheeky Jeremy Cheah, also of NSW.
Rik Downward represented the Northern Territory with: "Pictures taken in hue, make some girls feel blue, but if they only knew, their true beauty shines through."
"It's sexy, it's stylish, it's fun. It's everything appealing rolled into one. Please put my name on the list of who's won," pleaded Delia Tindal from Queensland.
"Man or woman, car or tyre, it makes no difference which we admire. VIP or mere mortal, we all appreciate the Pirelli portal," ventured Jill King of Tasmania.
"Blokes worship goddesses with heavenly curls, chicks fancy gladiators in tights and sandals. Pirelli's Calendar satisfies all. Question is, on whose side of the wall?", Melly Legiman asked in Victoria.
"Lovely models as far as any eye can see, no contest Pirelli, just give it to me," directed Roger Ward of Western Australia.
Peter Pappin of South Australia was wry: "To be perfectly honest, semi-clad women promoting car tyres would appeal to a fairly select audience. Please add my name to this list."
This competition has now closed. Stay tuned next week to see who the lucky winners around Australia will be.
