Peugeot has begun the relaunch of its light commercial vehicle (LCV) range in Australia with the Expert - first of three new vans - hitting local dealers on May 1st.
Priced from $36,490 plus on-road costs, the Australian spec Expert will be available in two different lengths, three engine variants and two transmission options depending on model.
Competing with the Renault Trafic, Volkswagen Transporter, Toyota HiAce and Ford Transit Custom, this generation Expert has been available in Europe for a few years, though held back from Australia thanks to a lack of a proper automatic transmission. That has been rectified with an Aisin six-speed torque converter auto that’s available on the 110kW and 130kW engine variants.
Powered by either a 1.6-litre or 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine - the former produces 85kW/300Nm and the latter is available in either 110kW/370Nm or 130kW/400Nm tunes - the Expert promises fuel efficiency as low as 5.2L/100km for the 85kW manual, and CO2 emissions from 137g/km.
The Expert is available in two body lengths, with the entry level 85kW model only available in shorter form, and the 132kW model only available in the longer format. Choosing the shorter Expert offers up to 2.5 metres in load length, while the extended model offers up to 4.0 while the ‘Moduwork’ system with a rising passenger seat adds up to 1.1 metres more length.
Standard equipment for the Expert includes city AEB, four airbags, auto headlights and wipers, adaptive cruise control, auto high beam, front and rear parking sensors with a reversing camera, front and rear daytime running lights, a 7.0-inch multimedia system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, auto-folding mirrors and Peugeot’s Moduwork system, which allows owners to increase the load bay by 1.1 metres by pushing the passenger seat upwards and opening a flap.
2019 Peugeot Expert pricing (plus on-road costs):
|110kW auto LWB||$44,190|
|132kW auto LWB||$45,890|
