Nissan GT-R 2020 pricing and spec confirmed: Flagship Nismo now more expensive than ever

Nissan Australia has priced its new GT-R Nismo at $378,000 plus on-road costs – up $79,000 compared to the outgoing model.

Launched this week, the flagship GT-R variant has undergone significant weight reduction, and has been treated to a number of aerodynamic, handling and braking enhancements.

The vehicle also utilises turbochargers borrowed from Nissan Motorsport's GT3 race car, which is said to improve throttle response, however, outputs remain unchanged at 441kW and 652Nm.

By adding more carbon fibre components – on the front guards, bonnet and roof – Nissan engineers shaved 10.5 kilograms, while increasing downforce.

The vehicle uses new turbochargers borrowed from the Nissan GT-R GT3 race car.

A revised six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission now includes an ‘R mode’ that shift gears more aggressively and intuitively, and a new suspension tune is said to aid cornering stability, yaw rate and ride comfort.

The car’s 20-inch Rays forged aluminium wheels are now 25 grams lighter and feature a new nine-spoke design for increased rigidity.

Nissan says the new Dunlop tyres improve grip by seven per cent, with the contact patch increased by 11 per cent and tyre cornering force increased by five per cent.

The new GT-R Nismo is almost 30 kilograms lighter than its predecessor, and to compensate for this, its Bilstein shocks have been re-tuned in both rebound and compression.

Finally, a new Brake package developed by Brembo uses carbon ceramic rotors measuring 410mm at the front and 390mm at the rear.

Despite the significant price hike, the new GT-R Nismo's cabin is unchanged from the outgoing car.

The six-piston front, and four-piston rear calipers also take on an all-new construction.

As before, the Nissan GT-R Nismo is powered by a Nismo-tuned 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine.

Standard equipment includes satellite navigation, an 8.0-inch colour display, surround-view camera, front and rear parking sensors and a Bluetooth handsfree phone system.

The base model Nissan GT-R Premium Edition is currently priced from $188,000.
