New Audi Q3 Sportback 2020 pricing and specs detailed: Mid-range 40 TFSI joins entry-level 35 TFSI

Audi Australia has released pricing for the mid-range 40 TFSI S Line version of its new Q3 Sportback coupe-style small SUV, which is now in showrooms.

Priced from $61,900 plus on-road costs, the 40 TFSI S Line commands a $12,000 premium over the entry-level 35 TFSI S Line variant that went on sale last month.

The 40 TFSI S Line is powered by a 132kW/320Nm 2.0-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine that’s matched to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission driving all four wheels via Audi’s quattro system.

Conversely, the 35 TFSI S Line is motivated by a 110kW/250Nm 1.4-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder petrol that’s mated to a six-speed dual-clutch automatic driving the front wheels.

The former sprints from a standstill to 100km/h in 7.8 seconds, while the latter is 1.5 seconds adrift. Claimed fuel consumption on the combined-cycle test (ADR 81/02) is 8.3 and 7.3 litres per 100 kilometres respectively.

Standard equipment in the 35 TFSI S Line includes variable-ratio steering, adaptive LED headlights, dusk-sensing lights, rain-sensing wipers, an S Line body kit, 19-inch alloy wheels and a hands-free power-operated tailgate.

Inside, a 10.1-inch touchscreen multimedia system with natural voice control, satellite navigation with real-time traffic, Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay support, dual Bluetooth connectivity, DAB+ digital radio, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless smartphone charging, USB-A and USB-C ports, keyless entry and start, dual-zone climate control, LED ambient lighting and leather-appointed upholstery feature.

The Q3 Sportback is a more stylish version of the Q3 wagon.

Advanced driver-assist systems extend to autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, tyre pressure monitoring, hill-descent control, hill-start assist, driver attention alert, a reversing camera and front and rear parking sensors.

A Launch Edition version of the 35 TFSI S Line is available for an $6550, adding metallic paintwork, rear privacy glass, black exterior trim, power-folding side mirrors with heating and auto-dimming, a 180W sound system with 10 speakers, power-adjustable front sports seats with heating and lumbar support, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, steering assist, adaptive cruise control with stop and go functionality, and surround-view cameras.

Inside, the Q3 Sportback is a technological tour de force.

While the 40 TFSI S Line misses out on the 35 TFSI S Line Launch Edition’s metallic paintwork and black exterior trim, it does gains 20-inch alloy wheels, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a flat-bottom steering wheel with paddle-shifters, S Line interior trim and high-beam assist.

Comfort ($85), Style ($2600) and Comfort ($900) option packages are also on offer for those that want to further enhance their 35 TFSI S Line, while the ($3900) Premium Plus option package is available for 40 TFSI S Line buyers.

The flagship RS variant will up the performance ante and complete the BMW X2-rivalling Q3 Sportback range when it arrives in the third quarter with a 294kW/480Nm 2.5-litre turbo-petrol five-cylinder engine.
