Tesla owners will soon be able to take binge watching to the next level after Elon Musk confirmed that Netflix will make its way to the brand’s multimedia systems.

Although the video streaming application, along with YouTube, will only be functional while the car is stationary, Mr Musk plans to rollout on-the-move functionality once autonomous driving technology matures.

“Ability to stream YouTube and Netflix when car is stopped coming to your Tesla soon!” Mr Musk said in a tweet. “Has an amazingly immersive, cinematic feel due to comfy seats and surround sound audio.

“When full self-driving is approved by regulators, we will enable video while moving.”

The added functionality is expected in an over-the-air update, and should come to the Model S sedan, Model X SUV and entry-level Model 3.

Other features being added to Tesla’s multimedia system include video games such as Cuphead, Chess and Missile Command, a pet-friendly ‘Dog Mode’, ‘Enhanced Summon’ self-parking, the zero-to-100km/h blitzing ‘Ludicrous Mode’.
