Mitsubishi plans to launch a new three-row SUV during the next 12 months, but if you’re expecting it to be a new Pajero or Pajero Sport, think again.

This new SUV is a production version of the DST three-row SUV concept that was first revealed in October 2024. Mitsubishi hasn’t confirmed what it’ll be called yet.

The Japanese carmaker plans to launch this new three-row SUV in Southeast Asian (ASEAN) markets such as Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam during its fiscal year 2025 (FY25), which runs from April 2025 to March 2026.

At this stage it’s yet to be locked in for an Australian launch, though it’s understood Mitsubishi Australia isn’t entirely ruling it out.

Unlike the Pajero Sport, the production version of the DST concept will be based on a monocoque platform.

This forthcoming seven-seat SUV seems to be an ASEAN market alternative to the mid-sized Outlander three-row SUV, which isn’t currently sold in a number of these markets.

It’ll slot into the region’s line-up along with ASX-sized Xforce SUV, as well as the Xpander and Xpander Cross people movers. None of these models are sold in Australia.

Beyond the updated Outlander and Outlander PHEV which is due to launch in the third quarter of 2025, it’s expected Australia’s next seven-seat SUV from Mitsubishi will be the next-generation Pajero Sport, based on the new Triton.

This new Pajero Sport is expected to be revealed this year and go on sale later in 2025 or early 2026.
