Kia Seltos 2020 recall: More than 2000 small SUVs fitted without mandatory anti-theft lock

The Seltos has been caught up in a new recall.

Kia Australia has recalled 2465 examples of the Seltos small SUV, which don’t have an anti-theft lock despite it being mandatory locally.

Affecting MY20 Seltos small SUVs sold from October 25, 2019, to August 25, 2020, the recall relates to Australian Design Rule (ADR) 25/01, which requires an anti-theft lock to be fitted to all new vehicles as a preventative measure.

In this instance, the Seltos’ anti-theft lock wasn’t installed on its steering column shaft during manufacturing, and therefore the small SUV isn’t ADR-compliant.

Kia Australia is directly contacting impacted owners with instructions to book their vehicle in at a preferred dealership for an inspection and repair, both of which come free of charge.
