Kia Australia's most expensive model is the Tesla Model Y Performance-rivalling 2023 EV6 GT electric car

Kia Australia’s flagship model, the EV6 GT electric car, will set buyers back $99,590 before on-road costs according to monthly pricing data released today.

While not yet officially confirmed by Kia Australia, leaked pricing data on the monthly Pound guide has been accurate in the past.

This makes it $27,000 pricier than the entry to the EV6 range, the Air RWD priced from $72,590, but buyers are compensated with a substantial powertrain upgrade.

While the base EV6 produces 168kW/350Nm from a single electric motor, and dual-motor all-wheel-drive GT-Line ups the ante to 239kW/605Nm, the GT punches out a sizeable 430kW/740Nm to all four wheels.

This means the flagship Kia can accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 3.5 seconds, making it quicker than internal combustion sports cars like the BMW M4, Audi R8 and Toyota Supra.

In terms of electric car performance, the EV6 GT is near the top of the tree, with the only rivals being the $91,600 Tesla Model Y Performance that will hit the landmark triple-digit speed in 3.7s.

Fitted with a 77.4kWh battery, the EV6 GT is good for a WLTP-certified driving range of 405km.

Equipment will mirror the GT-Line, with 20-inch wheels, a sports bodykit, sunroof, head-up display, heated and cooled front seats, 14-speaker sound system and active sound system.

In terms of safety, there is blind-spot monitoring, a surround-view camera, autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.

The EV6 GT will also be benefit from an Australian-tuned suspension, with order books expected to open soon for first deliveries later this year.
