This monster bike looks like an optical illusion, but it’s the real thing, built by Amen Design in the US.
The hubless wheels are based on those by extraordinary designer Franco Sbarro.
The engineering works by mounting the rotating components such as bearings and brake ring onto the outer side of a non-rotating inner band that is itself mounted on the forks (or swing-arm at the rear).
The design offers some advantages … better braking leverage, less weight, lower centre of gravity, and a handy way to exercise the hamster.
