Alfa Romeo Giulia 2019 pricing and specs confirmed

Alfa Romeo Australia has revealed local pricing and specifications for the 2019 Alfa Romeo Giulia range, which is on sale now.

Featuring more standard equipment and a simplified model range with diesel power deleted, the 2019 Giulia will compete with the just updated Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Audi A4, as well as the all-new BMW 3 Series.

Still powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine producing 147kW in base and Super models, and 206kW in the Veloce, as well as a 375kW 2.9-litre bi-turbo V6, the 2019 Alfa Romeo Giulia range has been simplified for a easier customer experience.

Pricing has also risen by up to $2000 to offset the extra standard equipment, though Alfa Romeo says that the Giulia’s value equation has improved significantly.

Choose the entry level Giulia, priced from $60,900 plus on-road costs, and buyers now earn Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring, as well as blind-spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert as standard equipment.

The base model Giulia also includes AEB, lane departure warning, keyless entry and start, 18-inch alloy wheels, an 8.8-inch media system with satellite navigation and a reversing camera.

The Giulia Super ($65,900, up $1000) has received upgraded bi-xenon headlights with cornering functionality and automatic high beam, as well as heated rear seats as standard.

This is on top of different 18-inch alloy wheels, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, adaptive cruise control, upgraded leather upholstery and a leather instrument panel.

The Giulia Veloce ($72,900, up $1000) receives eight-way power front seats, as well as heated rear seats while the Giulia Quadrifoglio ($145,900, up $2000) gets heated rear seats, as well as a five seat seating capacity (previously four), a leather and Alcantara steering wheel with carbon fibre inserts.

Veloce models include adaptive suspension, a limited-slip differential, sports pedals, sportier exterior styling and 19-inch alloy wheels while the Quadrifoglio then includes carbon-fibre parts including the roof, bonnet and rear spoiler, a 'Monza' exhaust with quad-piping, torque vectoring and leather and Alcantara upholstery with front sports seats.

Alfa Romeo Australia has also removed the diesel engine option in the Giulia range for 2019. Formerly only available on the Super model, the 132kW/450Nm 2.2-litre four-cylinder unit had a combined fuel consumption claim of just 4.2L/100km but thanks to low sales, has been removed from Australia.

Giulia and Giulia Super models are rated at 6.0L/100km, while the Giulia Veloce is rated at 6.1L/100km and the Quadrifoglio 8.2L/100km. All models use an eight-speed automatic transmission, and are rear-wheel drive in Australia.
