For the second time in four months, Mitsubishi Australia has increased the Triton ute’s pricing.

The Toyota HiLux, Ford Ranger, Isuzu D-Max and Nissan Navara rival’s range-opening GLX, GLX ADAS, GLX+ and GLX-R grades have all jumped $500, while its GLS and GSR flagships have risen $750.

As such, the line-up now starts from $23,490 plus on-road costs for the manual 4x2 GLX single-cab chassis petrol and reaches $53,490 for the automatic 4x4 GSR dual-cab pick-up diesel (see full pricing table below).

Mitsubishi Australia told CarsGuide these price rises were introduced due to "economic factors". Standard equipment has therefore carried over.

As before, the Triton is available in single-, extra- and dual-cab body-styles with cab-chassis or pick-up configurations. It also comes with the option of a 4x2 or 4x4 drivetrain. Of note, not all combinations are available.

A 94kW/194Nm 2.4-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine exclusively powers the ute’s aforementioned entry-level variant, which is mated to a five-speed manual.

Meanwhile, all other versions use a 133kW/430Nm 2.4-litre turbocharged diesel unit, which is matched to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed torque-converter automatic.

Justin’s dad chose to miss his birth because he wanted to watch Peter Brock hopefully win Bathurst, so it figures Justin grew up to have a car obsession, too – and don’t worry, his dad did turn up in time after some stern words from his mum. That said, despite loving cars and writing, Justin chose to pursue career paths that didn’t lend themselves to automotive journalism, before eventually ending up working as a computer technician. But that car itch just couldn’t be scratched by his chipped Volkswagen Golf R (Mk7), so he finally decided to give into the inevitable and study a Master of Journalism at the same time. And even with the long odds, Justin was lucky enough to land a full-time job as a motoring journalist soon after graduating and the rest, as they say, is history. These days, Justin happily finds himself working at CarsGuide during the biggest period of change yet for the automotive industry, which is perhaps the most exciting part of all. In case you’re wondering, Justin begrudgingly sold the Golf R (sans chip) and still has plans to buy his dream car, an E46 BMW M3 coupe (manual, of course), but he is in desperate need of a second car space – or maybe a third.
