Subaru Forester 2004: What are the correct servicing intervals?

MY WIFE drives a 2004 Subaru Forester 2.5 XS. Apart from golf, shopping and local travel, the car does not clock up many kilometres. So far it has covered 28,950km in a about 2 1/2 years. It has had three services -- at 9891km, 17,446km and 22,646km -- but Subaru tells me I should now book it in for the 62,500km, or 30-month, service, having missed the 50,000km or 24-month service. Is this over-servicing? At this rate I will be up for the 100,000km service when the car will have done only about 40,000km.

SERVICING is usually done on the basis of kilometres travelled, but to catch those cars that don't travel as many kilometres carmakers also specify time intervals, which applies in your case. Though it may seem like over-servicing it's best to keep it up because fluids and so on deteriorate with time.
