Smells like rotten egg

I have read a few stories in your column about a rotten egg smell in Toyotas and I thought I would tell you of my experience. I bought a new 2008 Toyota Corolla and the smell was there from day one. It was so strong I couldn't even sit in my car! The dealer suggested that I drive it more because I "hadn't done enough kays", or change the fuel I'm using. I explained that that was ridiculous because I drive my car on a daily basis and I'm using the best fuel and have been since I bought it. I ended up going back and forth for two years. Finally I'd had enough and wrote a letter to the CEO of Toyota expressing my rage and frustration. To my surprise three days later they fitted a new catalytic converter at no cost to me. It had nothing to do with the kays or the type of fuel. Please maintain the rage because Toyota will eventually listen!

While it took too long to resolve your complaint you should be congratulated for maintaining the pressure on Toyota until they did resolve the problem. Other owners frustrated by problems with their cars, whatever the make, should take note.
