Size requirements for spare tyre

I note that some manufacturers offer a full-sized spare as an option to a space-saver, but the spare often has a different rim size and tyre configuration. Are there any driving issues with this? Shouldn't the spare tyre be the same specification as those on the car?

It's common practice to fit a steel spare wheel and different tyre as a spare wheel, and it's usually to save money. There's not a problem, the wheel and tyre combination used meets the load and size requirements for the particular car and the function is not compromised.
