Shrinking price difference between manual and auto?

The vast majority of cars sold today have automatic transmissions, which means that the dealer stock is mostly auto. You could drive away in an auto out of dealer stock whereas you might find the manual has to be ordered from the factory and could take weeks to be delivered. For the same reason dealers are less likely to negotiate on price on a manual. The bottom line is that, yes, you are a dinosaur if you want a manual. Remember too that a manual will be less attractive to buyers when you come to sell it.
