When having her 2005 Toyota Corolla serviced my daughter was advised by the NRMA Liverpool to have her rear shocks replaced. The car has only done 33,489 km. Not knowing much about cars she went ahead with it at a cost of $460. I feel that being a young woman she may have been taken advantage of. Is this a standard maintenance item on a 2005 Toyota Corolla?
No, it's not a regular maintenance item and it's most unusual that shock absorbers would need replacing at such low kays. She would have been better off to seek a second opinion before accepting the advice.
