Reflective chrome on Corolla dash

I recently bought a Toyota Corolla ZR. The chrome strip across the dashboard is annoying — it distractingly reflects sunlight onto the front windows. Can this be fixed by the dealer or have you a suggestion?

It's part of the interior design and the dealer will not change it. If you're really unhappy, get an automotive painter to hit it with something non-reflective.
