    Nissan Patrol 2005: Should I upgrade to the 3.0-litre turbo-diesel?

    I HAVE owned a 4.2-litre diesel Nissan Patrol for 10 years, but I am considering upgrading to a 2005 GU Series III, 3.0-litre turbodiesel. I have read the correspondence on the 1999-2001 Patrol with this engine and would like to know if Nissan has fixed the issues with this engine? At the moment I'm tempted to go for the old-fashioned 4.2-litre diesel.

    THERE are too many reports circulating about the 3.0-litre turbo diesel engine and Nissan won't discuss them, so it's hard to recommend the engine to anyone. If you're thinking of the 4.2-litre I would suggest you go for that and stay away from the 3.0-litre engine.
