Options for replacing the engine on a '12 Ford Ranger that isn't covered by warranty?

I purchased a 2012 PX Ford Ranger XLT earlier this year. It on had 52,000 km on the clock. Recently, when I was driving it the engine shut down. I have had it assessed and was told that it will need a new motor. I have had servicing done on time and no other issues until that day. My warranty has run out, and the dealer is saying the total cost would be around $10,000. What are my options?

I assume you bought it from a dealer, so try and negotiate some form of good will payment to at least cover part of the cost of replacing the engine.
