THE oil cooler in the radiator of my 2003 BA Falcon Futura has failed, which in turn has allowed coolant into the auto transmission. The coolant dissolved the adhesive in the clutch plates, among other things. The result is that I have had to replace the entire cooling system, radiator and heater hoses and overhaul the transmission at a cost of $3000-$4000. All of this on a car with just over 100,000km on it. I bought the car at auction, so I have no service history. Still, this is an expensive repair to a car with so few kilometres on it. Do you think it would be worth me contacting Ford to see if I have any hope of some financial assistance in this matter?
YOU CAN contact Ford, but your car is out of warranty and you're unlikely to get a warm welcome. The best you can hope for is that they cover the cost of the parts, leaving you with labour costs. But as you bought your used car at an auction, I think you're wasting your time.
