Toyota Camry 1989: Noise from front left wheel when braking and turning

I HAVE a 1989 Toyota Camry sedan with 285,000km on the odometer. It still runs well, but at 70km/h and above there is a sound from the left front wheel when braking. Also, when doing a sharp right turn, there is a sort of thud from the front left. Any ideas?

CHECK the driveshaft joints. You may have a worn joint, which could have the effect you describe. It would also be worth checking the front wheel bearings.
