Is auto emergency braking necessary?

Asked by Michael and Jetti Levine

I thought the new absolute requirement in safety features was auto emergency braking. I don't see that as a consideration in choosing your Car of the Year. If, as I believe, the Sorento does not have it, then that will be the number one if not the sole reason to not buy the car.

The Sorento has a five-star ANCAP safety rating. Auto safety braking is great to have but it will be some years before it is fitted to all new models.
