We are looking for a secondhand small to medium car for around $15,000. We have just had the gearbox go in our 5-year-old 2010 Holden Cruze manual after 170,000 km, and we don't want to go Holden again. Which do you think would be the better buy, the Mazda3, Hyundai i30 or a Toyota Corolla? Is there anything else we should look at in the budget?
The three cars you nominate are all sound and good buying in the small to medium class. I wouldn't recommend buying European, they are generally less reliable and more costly to run than cars from Asia. You could also consider a Honda Civic or Kia Rio.
