I have a 2012 Subaru Forester 2.5-litre manual I use to tow a cub spacematic with override brakes. It has a gross weight of 1100 kg and a ball weight of 115kg, which is all within Subaru specs The concern I have is that the Subaru booklet states a recommended speed of 80kmh. Where would I stand if I had an accident at the legal speed of 100/110km?
Remember the speed limit is the maximum allowed if the conditions are favourable. If you disregard the Subaru recommendation you are taking a risk, and you could find yourself in trouble with your insurer in the event of a crash.
