The transmission in my sister's 2014 Ford Focus has been a problem since the first week she purchased the car a little over 18 months ago. Since then the car has had numerous software updates, two clutch replacements, in total eight trips back to the dealer to try and solve the issue. It is now a little over a week since the last clutch replacement and the car has started shuddering again. A case has been submitted with Ford Australia only for them to offer $5000 on a trade-in and hardly any reduction on a new vehicle. My sister paid $24,000 for this car a little over 18 months ago. It's a death trap and Ford Australia has now closed the case and pretty much have said too bad! Where do we go from here?
Ford's offer is pathetic. The trade-in value for your 2014 Focus is $12,000-$14,000, not the pitiful $5000 you have been offered. That shows how much Ford values the cars they produced. Start by going to Consumer Affairs and enlisting their help to negotiate a better deal, also consider joining the class action against Ford being run on this issue.
