I am curious to find out more about Lee-Ann Woods and her issue and successful outcome regarding her Ford Focus. I have been dealing with automatic shift issues for one year as I purchased my car in January 2012. The car has gone back to the dealer more than five times to investigate constant grinding noises in the gearbox. I have had a situation where I have lost drive in traffic, and have had to stop and restart the car. The transmission has been removed and the clutches replaced. And the transmission has had over five “re-learn”. For a new car this is totally unacceptable. I have logged my concerns with Ford, but they always refer me back to the dealer. Whilst I love the car, I firmly believe that a “new automatic” will solve the problem. Where should I go from here?
To lose drive at any time is potentially very dangerous; it's something that should be of immense concern to you, the dealer and the carmaker. I would urge you to strongly register your concerns with Ford directly and demand the company sit down with you and work out a plan of action to correct the situation. At the very least you should have a new transmission fitted. Lee-Ann Woods succeeded because she refused to give in and go away, she pursued her complaint through the consumer affairs department in her state, and that's something for you to consider.
